At approximately 2:50 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 13, West Whiteland Township Police Officers were investigating a violation of a Protection From Abuse (PFA) order in the 300 block of South Balderston Drive.

Officers observed a red Honda Accord being operated by a white male in the driveway of a residence. Officers knew this to be the suspect in the PFA violation and parked and exited their patrol vehicles to investigate.

The red Honda being operated by Brian Hook quickly accelerated and drove across the front yard towards police officers. Hook then collided head-on with a parked, unoccupied, police vehicle causing responding officers to jump out of the way to avoid being struck. Hook exited his vehicle and charged at officers in the front yard, police said.

Hook was taken into custody and is currently being housed at the Chester County Prison.

Criminal charges include Assault of a Law Enforcement Officer, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Aggravated Assault and Simple Assault.

He has a preliminary hearing on Aug; 23 at 9 a.m. before Magisterial District Judge Erin N. Bruno.
